In 1981, Microsoft Adventure was released. It was a text-based game that ran on the original IBM PC. It was fun, addictive even, and believe it or not, state of the art. You had to solve puzzles, avoid dwarfs, and navigate twisty little passages all the same.
This week, Halo 2 hit the streets. It's pretty much the same idea, but it makes Adventure seem like a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. The amazing experience of Halo 2 was unimaginable back then.
But you now have two data points. All you have to do is extrapolate. It's easy. Go forward in the same direction for 23 years, and that's what the hot game of 2027 will be like.
Scary, isn't it?

Hm... I'd say you probably need at least one more data point to "extrapolate," unless you assume progress is linear. It might be logarithmic, or root-n... or maybe exponential. But you can't tell with just two points. :)

Fair enough, but in 2027 when I ask this question again, I don't want any more bogus excuses!
